Academic Integrity Policy
Academic Honesty:
The Bellflower Unified School District “believes that academic honesty and personal integrity are fundamental components of a student’s education and character development.” As a result BP 5131.9, states that BUSD students are expected to not participate in cheating of any form and that students who have been found to commit an act of academic dishonesty will be subject to district and school-site discipline rules (see attached for a copy of BP 5131.9). As per the school-wide and classroom discipline matrices (see PBIS Information tab), students at the Las Flores Home Education Independent Study Academy are expected to be honest and are subject to disciplinary measures should they fail to be. The following will be considered forms of academic dishonesty:
- Copying homework, tests, and lesson activities
- Forging, altering, or duplicating school documents
- Using notes without permission
- Plagiarism
- Completing assignments for another student
- Accessing the internet or other electronic means to locate answers on a quiz or exam
- Having unauthorized access to stolen exams, tests, or quizzes
